Democrats can be some of the most inconsistent people in politics. They will say one thing when it suits them, and then criticize someone else on the same stance a couple of years later. It’s just another reason why the American people have grown warier of this once-respected political party.
Hillary Clinton, as well as many other Democrats, have attacked Trump over his recent UN speech in which he threatened to destroy North Korea. However, it seems that they’ve forgotten when former President Obama promised to do the same thing, according to the Telegraph.
The former Democrat presidential nominee criticized Trump’s message, saying that “I thought it was very dark, dangerous, not the kind of message that the leader of the greatest country in the world should be delivering,” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“What I hoped the president would have said is something along the lines of ‘we view this as dangerous to our allies, to the region and even to our country. We call on all nations to work with us to try to end the threat caused to us by Kim Jong-un,’” she continued.
Interestingly, Clinton and the rest of the Democrats that chastised the president for his comments seem to have forgotten the threats Obama issued against the rogue nation. Just last year, the former president warned the North Korean leadership that its “erratic” and “irresponsible” leader could bring about the destruction of his country – if America’s wrath were provoked.
“We could, obviously, destroy North Korea with our arsenals,” Obama told CBS News. “But aside from the humanitarian costs of that, they are right next door to our vital ally, [South] Korea.”
This comment was just last year, but liberals have seemingly forgotten this stern message. In defense of the president’s comments, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted the following: “Presidents have always been clear to deter threats: “We could, obviously, destroy North Korea with our arsenals” – @BarackObama last year.”

Many have criticized Trump’s rhetoric, but among those who feel his rhetoric is just an empty threat, some are worried that Trump won’t take action, and simply mirror Obama’s history of passivity.
Bruce Klingner, veteran intelligence agent and research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, said that currently, “The Trump administration to date has not yet distinguished its policy toward North Korea from that of Obama,” according to Politico.
However, others feel that he has already abandoned Obama’s “strategic patience” with North Korea, choosing to increase the pressure. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) confirmed the validity of these impressions, saying that Trump told him he would be willing to start a war with North Korea if necessary.
“If thousands die, they’re going to die over there. They’re not going to die here,” said Graham, mentioning that Trump “has told me that to my face.”
In truth, whatever the President does will get criticized by the liberal elements of this country. It doesn’t matter if Obama did it before or not, history is conveniently forgotten by those on the Left when an opportunity to attack arises.
